This course is designed to infuse the study of the employer-employee relationship and related industrial relation activities, that is, the complex interactions between employers and employees, labor/trade unions, etc. HRM is a central and strategic organizational activity that ensures optimum performance at the individual and organizational levels allowing organizations to achieve competitive advantage. There
are various interrelated and interdisciplinary functions of HRM that participants who are in or preparing to enter the world of work will be familiar with. The student taking this course will also be provided with the conceptual and operational nuances that are indicative of successful labour-management relations as well as the key functional areas informing the practice of human resource management and industrial relations in the
workplace.
