This course prepares students to use geographic co-ordinates to locate places on earth, and to describe the aspects of commercial geography that relate to commercial shipping. The course will also enable students to describe the main methods of transportation and explain the economic geographic principles of locational costs and central place theory. Students will be able to locate oceans, seas, major waterways, straits, islands, continents, and other important areas for shipping. Students will also be able to describe global wind systems, weather and climate and their influences on the types of goods, services and resources distribution across the world.
